First Time Setting Up Canon Pixma G1010 Install

  1. First of all, you should plug in the printer to a power source. Then, turn it On. Before proceeding, ensure that the “Power Lamp” is properly “lit”.  However, in case if the printer is performing any process like cleaning, print head alignment etc. Then, wait for the same. 
  2. Now, turn on your network access point i.e. router.
  3. Next, connect Canon Pixma G1010 with your router to configure it. For this,  you will need an Ethernet cable. It is usually not included in your Canon Printer package. Else, you can purchase one from the market. Hence, you must procure it beforehand.  
  4.  Thereafter locate the Ethernet port on the left side at the back of your printer. Then, remove the cap on the port. 
  5. Subsequently, you should connect the Printer and the Network Device i.e. Router through the Ethernet cable. Here, you must ensure that the Ethernet cable is “plugged in” to the right port on the printer and router.
  6. Now, look at the left-hand side of your printer’s Display screen for the “Menu” tab. You can easily identify it as it is marked with a Home icon. Hence, press the Menu tab.
  7. The following screen will have a “Wireless Connection” tab on the bottom left corner. As such, click on it to open the Wireless settings screen.
  8. The subsequent screen lists various available options. Hence, choose the “LAN Settings” tab.
  9. Next, opt for the “Wired LAN” option.
  10. Now tap on the “Wired LAN Active/ Inactive” button.
  11. Thereafter, choose the status as “Active” by clicking the tab.
  12. Finally, click on the “Menu” tab located on the left-hand side of the screen. Then, wait for the configuration to complete. Consequently, you will find the Ethernet icon on the bottom left corner of the display screen after the connection is complete.
  13. This finishes the first stage of configuring the printer with the router. Now, you should disconnect the printer from the router. Then, proceed for installing the Canon Pixma G1010 drivers on your computer. 
  14. Now, insert the Installation CD in the computer’s CD Drive. Then, click on “Download”. 
  15. Subsequently, follow on-screen instructions to complete the download. However, in the case of browsers like Internet Explorer 9 or later. It may prompt you for saving options. As such, choose the “Save As” option. Then, provide a preferred location to save the downloaded drivers.
  16. Then, wait for the download to finish. 
  17. Thereafter, you should “Run” the setup file. For this, open the downloaded SetUp file.
  18. Next, click the “Start Setup” button on the Setup Window. 
  19. The subsequent screen will prompt you to select your country or region. Hence, select it appropriately. Then, click “Next”.
  20. Now, you will get the “License Agreement”. Hence, scroll it down to the bottom. Then, select “Yes”.
  21. Consequently, it will take you to the “Extended Survey Program” window. Here, you will get two options. As such, you may either “Agree” or “Disagree” with it. Hence, select appropriately. Another key point to remember is that in case you Agree to it. Then, Canon will have access to certain information recorded in your printer. In other words, your computer will collect the information and send it to Canon through the internet. Canon uses this information for the development and marketing of its products while maintaining the confidentiality of your data. 
  22. Next screen displays Firewall Settings. Hence, ensure that the option of “Deactivate the Block” is selected.  Then, click on “Next”.
  23. Thereafter, you will get information regarding your network connection and printer. As such, confirm that the details are correct. Then, select “Yes” to proceed.
  24. As a result, it will continue with the “Setup”. Now, depending upon your network router, you may or may not get the  “Select wireless router” screen. Here, you should select your router. Then, enter its network key i.e. the password. Thereafter, click on “Next” after furnishing the details.
  25. Another thing to remember that it will take some time for the Setup. Moreover, it will disable your network connection temporarily.
  26. Next window will confirm that the Network Connection has been completed. As such, click on “Next”.
  27. Subsequently, it will confirm that the Setup has been completed. Besides, it will give you the option to make this printer your default printer. You can select it and click on “Next”.
  28. Thereafter, few more screens will appear. Here, you have to simply proceed by clicking “Next” on them.
  29. Finally, you will reach the end of the process. This screen will confirm that the installation has been completed successfully. Now, simply hit the “Exit” button.

  37. The subsequent screen lists various available options. Hence, choose the “LAN Settings” tab.
  38. Next, opt for the “Wired LAN” option.
  39. Now tap on the “Wired LAN Active/ Inactive” button.
  40. Thereafter, choose the status as “Active” by clicking the tab.
  41. Finally, click on the “Menu” tab located on the left-hand side of the screen. Then, wait for the configuration to complete. Consequently, you will find the Ethernet icon on the bottom left corner of the display screen after the connection is complete.
  42. This finishes the first stage of configuring the printer with the router. Now, you should disconnect the printer from the router. Then, proceed for installing the Canon Pixma G1010 drivers on your computer. 
  43. Now, insert the Installation CD in the computer’s CD Drive. Then, click on “Download”. 
  44. Subsequently, follow on-screen instructions to complete the download. However, in the case of browsers like Internet Explorer 9 or later. It may prompt you for saving options. As such, choose the “Save As” option. Then, provide a preferred location to save the downloaded drivers.
  45. Then, wait for the download to finish. 
  46. Thereafter, you should “Run” the setup file. For this, open the downloaded SetUp file.
  47. Next, click the “Start Setup” button on the Setup Window. 
  48. The subsequent screen will prompt you to select your country or region. Hence, select it appropriately. Then, click “Next”.
  49. Now, you will get the “License Agreement”. Hence, scroll it down to the bottom. Then, select “Yes”.
  50. Consequently, it will take you to the “Extended Survey Program” window. Here, you will get two options. As such, you may either “Agree” or “Disagree” with it. Hence, select appropriately. Another key point to remember is that in case you Agree to it. Then, Canon will have access to certain information recorded in your printer.   52. Thereafter, you will get information regarding your network connection and printer. As such, confirm that the details are correct. Then, select “Yes” to proceed.
  53. As a result, it will continue with the “Setup”. Now, depending upon your network router, you may or may not get the  “Select wireless router” screen. Here, you should select your router. Then, enter its network key i.e. the password. Thereafter, click on “Next” after furnishing the details.
  54. Another thing to remember that it will take some time for the Setup. Moreover, it will disable your network connection temporarily.
  55. Next window will confirm that the Network Connection has been completed. As such, click on “Next”.
  56. Subsequently, it will confirm that the Setup has been completed. Besides, it will give you the option to make this printer your default printer. You can select it and click on “Next”.
  57. Thereafter, few more screens will appear. Here, you have to simply proceed by clicking “Next” on them.
  58. Finally, you will reach the end of the process. This screen will confirm that the installation has been completed successfully. Now, simply hit the “Exit” button.
