How to Connect Canon Printer to WiFi?

Standard Setup Method

    1. This is the standard method for Canon Setup wherein Printer is configured with the Network during the Driver Installation process.
    2. As such, you must download the latest version of compatible Driver from Canon Setup’s official website. Else, simply insert the Installation CD in your system’s Disk-drive. 
    3. In order to begin the process, turn on your Computer, Router and Printer. Besides that, connect the system to the Network with which you want to connect the Printer.
    4. Now, double-click the downloaded Driver File or the CD icon in your Computer’s CD-drive. 
    5. Next, you should click “Run” on the following Security Prompt.
    6. As a result, you will get the initial Installer window. Here, you must click ‘Next” to connect Canon Printer to WiFi.
    7. Then, it will show the “Connection Method Selection” window. Hence, click on “Network Connection”. 
    8. Thereafter, click on “Wireless Connection” and connect Canon Printer to WiFi. 
    9. After that, it will suggest you to turn on the Canon Printer. As such, ensure the same. For this, confirm that the Printer’s Power Lamp is lit and stable. However, if that is not the case. Then, turn it on. For this, press the  “Power/ ON” button. 
    10. Subsequently, click “Next”.
    11. On the following “Printer Setup” window, you should select the “Connect To The Network” tab. 
    12. Consequently, the “Setup Procedure Selection” window will open up. Here, you must select either the “WPS” or “Cableless Setup” method as per the infrastructure of your Printer and Router. However, it is recommended to select “Cableless Setup” method as it works in most of the cases.
    13. Now, access your Printer’s Control Panel. Here, you must press and hold its WiFi button until the “Power Lamp” flashes for 2 times. Then, release it.
    14. After that, return back to your computer screen. The following window of the Installation Wizard requires you to click “Next” in case the last step was performed properly. Else, click “Start Again”  and repeat the last step.
    15. As a result, your Printer’s blue “WiFi Lamp” begins flashing. However, the “Power Lamp” remains lit and stable. Hence, click “Next” to initiate the Setup process. 
    16. Now, this process will take some time. Besides, it will temporarily disable the Internet Connection. Hence, wait for the setup to complete.
    17. Then, appropriately “Select Your Place of Residence” and click “Next”.
    18. Thereafter, carefully select your Country. Then, click “Next”.
    19. After that, click “Select All” to choose all the software or select individually from the list of available software. 

 How to Connect Canon Printer to WiFi?

  1. The next window displays information regarding the required Hard Disk. Hence, check the same and click “Next”.
  2. On the next “License Agreement” window, read the terms carefully. Then, click “Yes”.
  3. Subsequently, click “Next” on the Firewall Settings window.
  4. As a result, it will detect the Printer and connect it. However, it may require to repeat the process multiple times by clicking on “Redetect”. Despite that, if the setup continues to fail. Then, perform a Test Print and “Check Printer Settings”. As such, repeat the entire procedure if the Printer is connected to a wrong Network. 
  5. Finally, check the printer’s “Model Number” and “Network’s SSID (Name)” on the “Setup Completion” window. Then, click “Complete”.
  6. Then, complete “Print Head Alignment Recommended”, “User Registration” and “Extended Survey Program” by following the on-screen prompts.
  7. At last, click “Exit”.      

* WPS Push-button Method

  1. First of all, turn on your Canon Printer and Router.
  2. Now, approach your Printer’s Control Panel. Here, you will find a  Wireless button.
  3. Hence, Press and Hold the Wireless button until the corresponding Lamp blinks. Then, release it.
  4. As a result, its Indicator Light will turn blue in colour.
  5. Then, access your Router and look for its WPS Push-button. Thereafter, Press and Hold this button. Here, it is important to press the button within 2 minutes of the last step. 
  6. Consequently, your Printer’s Indicator Light will start to blink continuously. This means it is locating the Networks available in its range.
  7. Subsequently, your Printer’s Power Lamp will also start flashing along with the Indicator Lamp. In other words, Printer is establishing a connection with the Network. Hence, wait for the connection. For this, wait for both the Lamps to stop blinking. However, they will remain lit and stable.

* Wireless Connection Setup Method

  1. To begin with, turn on your Canon Printer and Router.
  2. Then, go to the Printer’s Control Panel. 
  3. On its Home screen, navigate to search the “Setup” button. Then, press it to open the “Setup Menu”. 
  4. Now, select  “Device Settings”. Then, press “OK”.
  5. Next, you should opt for “LAN Settings”. Then,  press “OK”.
  6. Thereafter, select your Connection Mode as “Wireless LAN” and press “OK”.
  7.  After that, select the “Wireless LAN Setup” option. Then, press “OK”.
  8. Then, opt for the “Wireless Connection Setup Method” option on the following window. Thereafter, press the “OK” button.
  9. Consequently, it will connect Canon Printer to WiFi. However, this will take time. Besides, it will disable the Network temporarily. As such, wait for the connection setup to complete properly. 

* Manual Connect Method

  1. First of all, turn on your Canon Printer and Router.
  2. Then, go to the Printer’s Control Panel and open its Home Screen. 
  3. Now, look for the Wi-Fi icon which is located at the screen’s lower left-hand corner. Hence, tap on it to connect Canon Printer to WiFi. 
  4. As a result, the Basic Network Information window will appear. As such, tap on “LAN Settings”.
  5. Next, tap on “Wireless LAN” > “Wireless LAN Setup” > “Manual Connect”. 
  6. Consequently, the Canon Printer will start searching Wi-Fi Connections available within the range.
  7. The following window will provide you with a list of available Networks. Therefore, select the correct “Wi-Fi Network”.
  8. Thereafter, enter the Security Password for your WiFi Network. Then, press the “OK” button.
  9. As a result, it will connect Canon Printer to WiFi which will take time. Hence, wait for the connection setup to complete successfully. 
  10. At last, tap on the “OK” tab from the “WiFi Setup Complete” window. 

* Wifi Direct Method

  1. To begin with, turn on your Canon Printer and Router.
  2. Then, go to the Printer’s Control Panel. 
  3. Here, you should locate the “Wifi Direct” button. Now, press and hold the button. You must release it only when its Alarm Lamp flashes. 
  4. Consequently, check the “Wireless” icon and “Horizontal Bars” on your Printer’s Display Screen will start flashing. 
  5. Now, go to your Router. Then, Press and Hold the WPS button. This should be done within 2 minutes of the last step. 
  6. At this point, the “Wireless” icon and “Horizontal Bars” on your Printer’s Control Panel continues to flash. This means the Printer is searching for the available WiFi Networks.
  7. Thereafter, the “Power” and “Wi-Fi Lamp” will also start flashing. This indicates it is connecting to WiFi.
  8. At last, the “Power” and “Wi-Fi Lamp” will stop flashing. But, remains lit which confirms that the Printer now connected to WiFi.
