Most Common issues of Canon printers are paper jam, outdated printer driver, documents stuck in a queue, unclear printing, network issues, slow printer, etc. Hence, here are some methods given for Canon Printer troubleshooting. 

  • Inspect the Power, USB Cable, and Paper Tray
  • Check the power cable properly. Ensure that the cable is not defective and plugged into the power source. 
  • Then, test the USB cable and assure that it is correctly linked to the printer and the computer.
  • Once the cables are checked, take out the paper tray from the printer. Make sure that there should be no piece of paper stuck in the tray. 
  • Uninstall and Reinstall the Latest Printer Driver

It might be possible that your printer driver is not working properly due to an outdated version. So, delete it from your system. For that, click on the Start icon. Then, go to the Control Panel,  Programs, and then Programs and Features. From the list of software, choose your printer driver and click Uninstall. Then, reinstall the program by following the given steps for Canon Printer troubleshooting: 

  • Go to canon.com/ijsetup. After that, select the “Setup” tab which is given at the right side of the homepage. 
  • On the “Select Product Name” window, search for your Canon printer. 
  • Select between the Windows and Mac operating systems and under the recommended drivers section, click download.
  • After a while, double-click the downloaded file, read all the installation terms and click on the Install button. 
  1. Printer Stops Printing- Clear the Stuck Print Job in Queue

Canon Printer Troubleshooting steps to cancel the pending documents stuck in the queue are as follows: 

  • Mac:
  • Click on the Apple Menu which is positioned in the top-left corner of the screen. 
  • From the choices given, select System Preferences. 
  • Following this, choose Printers. 
  • Select the printer you are using and hit the “Open Print Queue” button
  • In order to remove print jobs in the queue, select the required document and click Cancel. 
  • Windows: 
  • Press the Windows key and select the Settings icon. 
  • Then, choose Devices. 
  • With this, select the Printers and Scanners option. 
  • Thereafter, select the active printer. All the documents listed will be visible on your screen. Click Cancel All Documents tab to quickly clear the print job. 
  1. Faded Printing- Clear the dried ink

Sometimes your printer does not print clear documents. In that case, you must follow the below-given tips for Canon Printer troubleshooting: 

  • If you see horizontal lines and spots in the printout, you should clear the dried ink from the cartridge. 
  • Clean the electrical contacts of the cartridge gently by using a wet cloth. Make sure you clean the print head properly to make it dust-free. 
  • If the ink level is low, change the ink cartridges. Then install the cartridges appropriately.

It is one of the common issues that most users face while using Canon printers. The printer works slow usually when you try to print a high-quality document. So to resolve this issue, you must reduce the print quality. For that, in the printing application, select File> to print to access the print dialog box. Then, select your desired printer and click Preferences. Here, you will see the Print Quality section. As per your preference, select High, Standard, Fast, or Custom print quality. By reducing the print quality, the speed of your printer will increase and also help in saving your ink and toner.
